Working Group Travel Grants

The SIGCSE Board has just announced a grant scheme to support participation in Working Groups at SIGCSE conferences. The Working Group Travel grant will be available for new Working Group participants at ITiCSE 2025.   The aim of the grant is to encourage participation in working groups from countries and regions where there have been traditionally very few participants. This will provide an opportunity to support the establishment of computing education in these locations and continue to develop SIGCSE as a global community.

Priority will be given to individuals from countries or regions that have historically been under-represented in SIGCSE working groups.  Applications demonstrating a strong engagement in computing education and describing a solid plan for positively impacting their local computing education community over the long term will be viewed more favourably by the selection committee.

Awardees of the Working Group Travel grant will receive:

  • Complimentary Working Group registration
  • Complimentary registration for the associated conference.
  • Travel expenses up to 1,000 USD

 To be eligible for the Working Group Travel grant, a person:

  • should not have previously participated in a Working Group at a SIGCSE conference (ITiCSE or CompEd);
  • must physically participate in the Working Group and the associated conference;
  • should not have access to travel funds from their local institution; and,
  • must be a SIGCSE member.

The selection will be done by a panel established by the SIGCSE Board.  Note this application process will be separate from the Working Group application process.  Grants will only be awarded to people who have been offered a place in a Working Group. Up to five grants will be available.

Applications for the Working Group Travel grant were due on Sunday 2 March (anywhere on Earth) and the awards will be announced no later than Monday, 24 March.
