Reception, Excursion, and Banquet

Reception

The opening reception will be held at Vicálvaro Campus on Monday 13 July after the last paper session. You are warmly welcome to join us for drinks and snacks. Reception is included in the conference fee, but to avoid food waste, we hope you will indicate your participation in the registration form.

Excursion

The ITiCSE excursion will be on Tuesday 14 July. We will go to El Museo del Prado. One of the most important art museums in the world, hosting paintings by Fra Angelico, Bosch, Dürer, El Greco, Rubens, Rembrandt, Tiziano, Velázquez and Goya, among others. The Prado and the nearby Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum and the Museo Reina Sofía form Madrid’s Golden Triangle of Art along the Paseo del Prado, which was included in the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2021.

The main building was designed in 1785 by architect Juan de Villanueva on the orders of Carlos III to house the Natural History Cabinet. Nonetheless, it was later converted into a new Royal Museum of Paintings and Sculptures, being opened to the public for the first time in November 1819. It was initially created with aim of showing the works of art belonging to the Spanish Crown. The museum experienced several renovations during the 19th and 20th centuries. For those attending the excursion, buses will depart from the university after the last paper session.
