Union Square is the newest shopping
centre in Aberdeen which opened in late 2009. It boasts many high street
shops, coffee shops, restaurants, a spa and a cinema complex. Union
Square also benefits from being located next to the rail and bus stations.
Scotland’s position on the edge of
the European continent with sea on three sides means that the weather is
very varied! In April the weather is usually quite cold so warm
clothing is recommended.

Currency and Banks
The official currency of UK is £
sterling. Commonly accepted credit cards are Visa, and Mastercard. Display
signs are usually visible in all restaurants and shops indicating which cards
Travellers’ cheques can be cashed at
most banks. Most banks are closed on Saturdays and all day Sunday. There are
foreign exchange booths at all major airports and in Aberdeen city centre.
There are ATMs at the RGU Campus at Riverside East (Sir Ian Wood
building). There is one ATM at the AECC but this incurs a charge for
use. There is a full range of Banks in Aberdeen city centre.
