Public transport strike 6 July

On Thursday 6 July, the day after ITiCSE finishes, there will be a four-hour public transport strike in Bologna and several other regions of Italy. The strike will not be complete: it involves only one labour union out of four, although that is a mojor one.

Impact on bus transport (including Aerobus)

Affected bus drivers will be on strike from 11am to 3pm. Buses leaving the terminal before 10.45am will complete their route; subsequent buses, until 3pm, might be cancelled. Further information (in Italian) can be found here: https://www.tper.it/notizia/gioved%C3%AC-6-luglio-sciopero-nazionale-usb-di-4-ore-modalit%C3%A0-bus-e-treni-tper#.WVKV2xmpXqA

The Aerobus (BLQ bus) to the airport is a joint venture of several transport companies, so while it is not a guaranteed service, it is unlikely to stop running altogether during the strike.

Impact on train transport

Some train services are guaranteed in case of strike (http://www.trenitalia.com/tcom-en/Purchase/Info-&-Contacts/In-case-of-strike).

These long-distance national trains are guaranteed to run: http://www.trenitalia.com/cms-file/allegati/trenitalia_2014/informazioni/Treni%20garantiti%20DPLH%20giu-dic2017_def%20-%20TAB%20A.pdf

These trains within the Emilia-Romagna region are guaranteed to run: http://www.trenitalia.com/cms-file/allegati/trenitalia_2014/informazioni/Treni%20garantiti%20DPLH%20giu-dic2017_def%20-%20TAB%20B.pdf

Impact on taxi and Uber transport

It would appear reasonable to expect an increased demand for taxi and Uber services during the strike, so people expecting to use these services should consider booking further in advance than usual.
